Orange Coast College/Marketing & PR Department:

(Interim Public Relations Specialist)

After graduating from CSULB I was asked to return to Orange Coast College to fill in for the Public Relations Specialist role. This was a dream opportunity to come back to the Marketing and Public Relations department and put into the practice what I had learned at University. This time around I was able to take on the role of editing and publishing the work going out. I was also responsible for formulating messaging to different audiences and channels.

With my time back at the department, I was able to continue my former journey sharing the story of the community of the campus through the people and the '“why” behind the events and programs. Being able to utilize and strengthen my skills as a writer, researcher and liaison between the campus and the community were valuable to me.

This opportunity helped me to grow my skills:

  • strategic communications - with the M&PR team (Director, Photography, Video, Graphic Design, Webmaster and clients)

  • campus connections - with the President’s office, departments heads, professors, staff and peers

  • time management - balancing home, college, work
